My name is Kendall. I’m a history and literature double major at UNC Asheville. I am taking this class to learn more computer skills so that I will be able to make my research more accessible. I am also excited to see the research conducted by my peers at other universities. I am really interested in music and I play classical guitar.

Introduction

Hi everyone! My name is Rachel Gdula and I am from Syracuse, New York. I am a junior at SUNY Geneseo where I am majoring in International Relations. I am excited to take this class and learn more about secessionist and separatist movements in the United States, which, being an IR major, I don’t have much opportunity to study in my regular courses. I am also eager to develop my skills with digital tools, and learn more about how to use these tools to make information and academic research more accessible to the public. Looking forward to working with all of you!

Introduction

Hi everyone!

My name is Abi. I grew up in Raleigh, North Carolina and moved to Nelson, New Zealand when I was twelve. After finishing high school, I decided to come back to North Carolina for university.

I’m a history major, interested in colonialism and medical history, especially the history of infectious diseases. I like learning about how catastrophe impacts the social world. I am also curious about the history of the pre-Columbian Americas, which often strays more into archaeology than traditional history. In general, though, if it happened more than thirty years ago I want to know about it.

This class drew my attention because it was about the history of division. As stated above, I enjoy studying how change affects people. On top of this, I would like to know more about building websites. It is important for academic research to be accessible to the general public in order to foster inclusion instead of division. I also believe that technological literacy is an important skill for historians to have.

I look forward to getting to know all of you.

Introduction

Hello everyone! My name is Jonas Chang and I am a double History and Anthropology major at Truman State University in northern Missouri. I am excited to take this class because I am interested in conducting independent research and in making research ore accessible to people who are not well-versed in the research aspect of academia. Last summer I interned at the digital archives in the special collections at Missouri State University and was amazed by the depth and precision that goes into both creating and using digital archives. During that internship I only scratched the surface of the work that goes into digital humanities and am really excited to learn ins and outs of making a website to share what I learn with others.

My name is Kodey Springate. I’m from Independence, Missouri and am a Senior at Truman State University. I’m a history major, sociology minor, and hope to get into the Masters of Art and Education (MAE) program at Truman after I graduate. I plan on teaching high school history and sociology.
