ABOUT THE PROJECT

The Nuwaubian Nation: The Culture of Black American Separatism is a COPLAC digital project, researched and created during the Fall 2018 semester of the COPLAC Divided Houses course. This course intends to examine questions such as “What makes a community break apart?” and how and why secessionist and separatist movements emerge and develop. The focus of this course rested on how to study secessionist and separatist movements, and then further how to apply these manners of study to a particular movement, specifically with the intention of including archival research and sources. Visit the course website to learn more about the course and other COPLAC projects.
