About Us

Shannon Curley is a junior at SUNY Geneseo. She studies History and Geography with minors in Environmental Studies and the Edgar Fellows Honors Program. Since she is from Southern New Jersey, Shannon’s experiences at Geneseo have taught her an incredible amount of information about New York State and Western New York. This project and an internship at the Livingston County Planning Department have especially increased her knowledge of the region during this fall 2018 semester. At the college, Shannon is the treasurer of the club softball team and Geography Club, the education coordinator for GIS Association, and a student representative for the Edgar Fellows Advisory Committee. She is interested in the practice of digital history and hopes that you find this website a refreshing way to engage with historical sources.

Julia McGaugh is a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo. She studies Communication with a concentration in Journalism and Media and a minor in the Edgar Fellows Honors Program. Julia is originally from Latham, NY. At Geneseo, she is the co-chair of curation for TEDxSUNYGeneseo, a Resident Assistant in Wayne Hall (Dante House), a student representative for the Edgar Fellows Advisory Committee, a member of Geneseo Symphony Orchestra and Geneseo Chamber Singers, and a member of InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. She hopes you enjoy your visit to the site and that you are just as fascinated as she is by Western NY’s unique history.
