On September 29, 1973 Governor Neal Gamm hosted a Conference at the Holiday Inn in Macomb, IL. Gamm made sure to invite mayors of cities within the Forgottonia region, Illinois state Senators and Representatives, Governor of Illinois Dan Walker, and the Congressional delegation from Illinois.
Although the turnout for the first Forgotonia Conference, about 100, was lower than Gamm wished, the media presence was the most important piece. The Governor gave a speech outlining the importance of the Forgotonia movement and outlining all of the problems facing the new state. Though he only spoke for a short period of time, Gamm made sure to drive home the fact that the state of Forgotonia’s roads was so poor that it made travel almost impossible.
It was attended by few important politicians, and the Summit at the Holiday Inn was the most successful public event in the history of Forgotonia.
