Grievances

The complaints of the people in rural western Illinois were many and justified. Governor Gamm, typical of his wry wit, rightly characterized the region a place that had “Assets without Access.” As you dive into the many grievances of the Forgotonian people, broadly understood as transportation, taxes, education, and social services, consider how disadvantaged this region was. These four categories cover a breadth of day to day life, from the ability to move in, out, and around the region, to taxpayer money, school life, and more. After browsing these sections, one can understand why Forgotonia was created. The usual political channels, those of raising issues to the Illinois General Assembly and federal government, were failing to address these major issues, and something needed to change.
